The Moto E 2nd Gen – Successor to Moto E 1st Gen is here….!!!

Hi Guys,

Lets talk about the all new Moto E 2nd Generation – successor to 1st Gen Moto E.

Is it any good to its Predecessor…???

We are here find out..!!!

Prices Indian Rupees 6999, The new Moto E 2nd Gen is dual SIM smartphone which has a 4.5 inch 960×540 qHD resolution IPS display which is a bump from 4.3 inches on 1st Gen Moto E.

Though the resolution remains the same, meaning less pixels density i.e. 245 ppi as against 256 ppi on 1st Gen which is marginal.  also the screen is protected by Cornings Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches.

Built quality is sturdy as usual for any motorola device. but at 12.3 mm thick , this smartphone is not the thinnest one around.

Moto E 2nd Gen has a better Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad core 200 CPU clocked @ 1.2 GHz,
coupled with 1 GB RAM & Adreno 306 GPU with a speed of 400 MHz.

Internal storage is also increased from meagre 4GB to 8 GB which is great, and you also have the option to increase the storage using a microSD card slot upto 32 Gigabytes.

Talking about camera, it is an area of concern. it has 5 mp primary shooter with Auto-Focus but without LED Flash, there’s lot to be desired. though primary camera is capable of shooting 720p videos @30fps, quality was not that great.

The less we talk about the front 0.3 mp VGA camera, the better. it is as good as if it is not there.

The smartphone runs on Google’s latest stock Android Lollipop out-of-the-box :)) which is buttery smooth and bloatware free. it is the smooth user experience that makes this smartphone worth every rupee.

Among other features it has a notification light, USB OTG supported, FM Radio.
connectivity-wise it has WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and microUSB 2.0

Pros :

– Sturdy Build Quality

Cons :

– Dismal Camera performance specially front camera is abysmal.

– No Flash for Primay Camera

– Comparatively Lower Resolution Display, though not a deal-breaker.

– Less powerful Processor compared to competition.

– Quite Thick at 12.3 mm

Conclusion :

If you are not looking for a great camera, and if you are not into much of high-end gaming, instead looking for a device with great user experience, bloatware free and which offers lag free day-to-day operations that to without going deep into your pockets……

Then Motorola’s new Moto e 2nd Gen is the best device you can get.

Moto e 2nd Gen offers only a few improvements over 1st Gen Moto e, such as primary camera with autofocus , a bigger display and bigger battery . alternatively you can also buy 1st Gen moto e which is 1000 indian rupees cheaper.

Asus Zenfone 5 – Beast of a Smartphone on Budget

Hi Guys,

Today i will talk about Asus Zenfone 5 and when i hear Zenfone 5,

i only get one word in my mind.

i.e. Sensational

if you are on a tight budget and are thinking it will be a tough ask to get a decent device for around 10000 Indian Rupees, then u might have to think again. reason…:) Zenfone 5 is here..!!

Now i will quickly guide you through the specifications sheet of Asus Zenfone 5 :

– 5.00 inch IPS Display with HD Resolution (720×1280) & Cornings Gorilla Glass 3 Protection.

– 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 Dual Core Processor with Intel Hyper-threading Technology.

2 Gigs of RAM, along with 8 / 16 Gigs of Internal Storage variants (Both Expandable upto 64 GB via MicroSD card)

– 8 Megapixel rear camera with Auto Focus (Supports Full HD video Recording) & LED Flash and 2 Megapixel front-facing Selfie camera.

– 2110 mAh Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) Battery

– OS : Googles Android 4.4.2 (Lollipop update to Android ver. 5.0 confirmed in 2nd quarter 2015)

That was impressive…!!! wasn’t it..?? indeed

Now let me brief you about this masterpiece and state down Pros and Cons of Asus Zenfone 5 :

This device has a 1.6 GHz Intel atom dual core processor with Hyper-threading technology from intel, which means that Operating System will see it as a quad core processor because every core in this processor will be having 2 threads, which will make OS take this processor as a quad core processor.

If i have to compare this processor i will rate it higher than Qualcomms Snapdragon 400 Quad-core CPU.

Alongside this powerful CPU, this device has PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU (Graphics Processor), and to my pleasing surprise this GPU actually performs really well, playing graphics intensive games such as Ashphalt 8 was quite smooth experience without any lag, big thanks to coupled 2 Gigs of RAM….:))

Zenfone 5 has a 5 inch 10 finger multi touch IPS panel with corning gorilla glass protection. device has a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels which accounts pixel density of 294 ppi. display is really smooth to touch, and overall touch experience is top notch.

With 8 GB and 16 GB versions of zenfone 5 to choose from you wont be out of storage even if you choose to buy 8 GB variant, as both variants have microSD card support upto 64 GB. both of them have similar specs, and only difference is the inbuilt internal storage.

Coming to camera, Zenfone 5 offers best in class camera performance and very classy camera interface. it has an 8 mega-pixel primary camera that supports 1080p videos @30fps with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. on the front is a 2 mega pixel camera. it supports many camera modes such as HDR mode, panorama, Night, low-light, miniature, GIF animation, depth of field, beautification etc. all in all zenfone 5 camera offers a quite a lot at this price point.

Zenfone 5 weights around 145g, making it quite light and easy to use, its curved back makes sure that this device sits nicely into palms. among others features this device has notification light, USB OTG, FM Radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, USB 2.0. amongst sensors it has Accelerometer, proximity, compass & ambient light. it has a 2110 mAh non-removable li-ion battery which is for me below par. if you use your device quite often then you might be required to plug it twice a day…:(

Zenfone 5 runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 with Asus’s custom ZenUI skin on top of it. Zenfone 5 is slated to receive Android Lollipop update in 2nd quarter of 2015.

Pros :

– Excellent Built Quality

– Fast Processor and GPU

– Great camera at this price point

– 2 Gigs of Ram

– Supports USB OTG (on-the-go)

Cons :

– Battery backup is below par.

– Gets a bit heated while playing games.

There are actually not many cons, except for those stated above.

Conclusion : Zenfone 5 offers way much more than one could expect at this price range, so its worth every penny spent on this device. Anyone looking for best smartphone under 10000 Indian Rupees….??? Asus Zenfone 5 is the Answer….!!!
